Movie News

Pirates of the Caribbean. I saw this flick over the weekend and WHAT A FUN MOVIE! They don't make movies like this anymore - lots of action, lots of fun, and Johnny Depp really sells it as Jack Sparrow...sorry, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow. Don't forget - he's Captain, even when he doesn't have a ship or is marrooned on a desert island! Even if he's staggering around, half-drunk and slurring his words. He REALLY SELLS the Keith Richards look, too. I'll post a longer review later.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. After PIRATES, I "creeped" into the first hour of League, expecting to be disappointed, which I was. Watched enough to see them pull the team together, but the action was thin, the characters had no interesting hooks. I got up and skedaddled after they met Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde in Paris - the animation on this "Hulky" character was so cheesy I was laughing out loud.
